This summer I served the public as a campground host for a Forest Service facility outside of beautiful Ruidoso, New Mexico. It was an amazing experience in which I got to not only wake up to amazing beauty every morning but also to interact with new people every week. I met folks from all over the world, though most came from El Paso, Texas, or Juarez, Mexico. Oak Grove Campground has 30 campsites and I got to clean up each site after it was used. I also got to interact with the local wildlife every day. Hummingbirds? Check. Wild horses? Check. It was a tremendous experience. And I got paid a little, too. After I closed the gate to the campground on October 1st, I moved up north to Santa Fe to pursue ministry opportunities there.
