___________________________________________________ “I understand,” I told my friend Mark this afternoon. “And I’ve come to terms with it. Or at least I’m coming to terms with it.” The subject was my curved spine, a source of great discomfort of late. Mark is my chiropractor — a compassionate friend who stepped in 16 months ago when he…

When a F5 tornado plowed its way through Joplin, Missouri, a few weeks back, thousands of people were left homeless. Hundreds were left hopeless. Hundreds more simply hung on to hope. Of the 50-thousand residents of Joplin, more than 150 went missing in the hours and days after the twister. Stories of horror emerged from…

“Why do you stand afar off, O LORD? Why do you hide Yourself in times of trouble? How long, O LORD? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me?” (Psalm 10:1 & 13:1) There’s something about silence that perplexes us. It can seem peaceful yet restless, eerie yet calm.…

Well folks, you may have noticed that I changed the look of my blog site recently. I have to modify things every now and then or I go crazy. It’s part of the spiritual gift of tinkering. I added a banner above of a really cool scene from Scotland. I love this picture. It’s so….…

When I saw two men, well-dressed in gray, I knew they were Witnesses. Mormons wear white shirts.…

Does it take two to tango? Does the buck stop here? Sorry. Couldn’t resist. During yesterday’s sermon at church, I was fascinated by a small clause in Matthew 28 that I had never noticed before. Here’s the passage: “16 But the eleven disciples proceeded to Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had designated. 17 And…

“The thunder, lightning and hail is over,” I told a co-worker yesterday after a strong storm moved through. “Up next is the fire and brimstone.” She thought I was joking. That’s funny. Actually, with the recent severe weather in the Southeast U.S. and Midwest, I’m sure few would have been surprised if fire and brimstone…

Here’s a new one: I’m blogging while laying on a decompression table getting my lower back stretched… Seriously. At Village Chiropractic in Highland Village. For more than a year my dear friend, Dr. Mark Gundlach, has been helping me get more mobility and functionality in my back, which has been stressed and contorted constantly during…
